4/8/07 Celtel to train African graduates By Emmy Olaki, http://www.newvision.co.ug CELTEL International has launched a training programme for graduates to enable them develop their leadership and business skills. Under the programme, dubbed HeadStart, the brightest, most talented young African graduates will be chosen to advance their careers. Announcing the programme, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, the founder and chairman of Celtel International, said: “We have established HeadStart to give the best young people a unique chance to develop into the leaders of one of Africa’s most exciting companies.” Graduates are being sought to start working in June under the 15-month programme, which will cover all the 14 African countries in which Celtel operates. “HeadStart will give graduates the opportunity to further develop their leadership skills and management and business knowledge in any of Celtel’s core business areas including sales, marketing, engineering, human resources and finance,” Ibrahim said. Mandla Ndlovu, the chief human resource officer of Celtel International, added: “Celtel’s mission is to be the most successful pan-African telecommunications company. A key element in achieving this ambition is to be able to attract, develop and retain the best new management talent under HeadStart.
