THE Tanzania Cigarette Company (TCC) is likely to increase its business
opportunities in East Africa, following its decision to join the East
African Business Council (EABC) last week. TCC has become the 26th company
from Tanzania to join the regional body.
EABC is the apex body of business community in East Africa including the
recently admitted Rwanda and Burundi.
The decision to join business community apex body in the region followed
talks between TCC management and EABC key officials who have been in
Tanzania for various business activities including lobbying and advocacy,
efforts that are geared at stepping up efforts to recruit new members.
TCC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Jorge da Motta told EABC
delegation that his company was eager to benefit from the big role played by
EABC, one of them being influencing and shaping operation environment for
businesses in the region.
The CEO promised to work with the organization in safeguarding and
protecting interests of its members and promoting private sector's regional
competitiveness.
EABC chairman Arun Devan said in the talks that the organisation's main
objective was to find a common denominator to safeguard business and create
level field for doing business within the region.
"We have access to authorities. If a member gets a specific problem, we are
always ready to intervene," asserted Mr Devan. |
