There is a lot of work ahead to be done, but we are making progress.  Of course it is hard to see that with all the pain and anguish in our world.  What's amazing to me is that we are actually succeeding in the face of all that.  Take stock of what's good around you. 

I urge Africa's leaders to remain optimistic about the future of our continent.  The best times indeed are ahead of us.  Do not slide in your quest to bring about a better life for your people.  Progress is being made.
